Light bulbs - What type should I use in my lamp?
Our lamps require a LED or Compact Fluorescent bulb. A 100-150 watt incandescent equivalent bulb produces a satisfying amount of light depending on the size of you room. For all photos on the website a 2700K – 2150 lumen – 125 watt equivalent CFL was used. It’s our favorite of many tested.
Do not use an incandescent bulb with our lamps. Why? Because of HEAT, and lots of it. There is moisture present in the air and wood naturally absorbs it. When heated the wood releases this moisture and the wood contracts. When the lamp is turned off, it cools and the moisture returns. This expansion/contraction process can dry out and damage the wood over time. We all want your lamp to last forever, so please be kind to it by not using this type of bulb.
Are wood lamps safe?
Wood and most types of cloth have a combustion temperature of over 400 ° F (200 ° C). This is extremely hot. When the shade is properly fitted and a recommended bulb is used (CFL/LED) only a small amount of heat is transmitted into the shade. When lit, a 7 ° F (4 ° C) rise above room temperature is typical on the surface of the shade. As long as your room is not already 400 ° F (200 ° C), there is no risk of fire. Wood lamps are just as safe as any other type of lamp shade.
Do I have to put the lamp together?
All shades come fully assembled.
The stands are flat packed and the pieces must be screwed together. It is a simple operation.
What countries do you ship to?
We ship full lamps (Shade + Stand) to the US, Canada, and Mexico.
For some of our lamps, you may purchase a lampshade only. They are marked “Shade Only.” We can ship these anywhere in the world.
What shipping carriers do you use?
We ship to the US, Canada, and Mexico via USPS and UPS. Other international orders ship with USPS only.
What if disaster befalls my lamp?
If the blades (wooden parts) come out of alignment, they can be reseated easily. At this time we do not offer replacement blades.
Is the lamp UL Listed?
The lamp stand has not been tested by Underwriters Laboratories. However, all of the electrical components used in the lamp’s construction are UL Listed.
